What unpopular opinions or thoughts do you have about movies?
I'm going to start with a huge bombshell: I can't help but feel the studio execs were right to be bothered by the fact that The Thief And The Cobbler was taking such a long time to be made by Richard Williams. This is not to belittle Mr. Williams' grief at all.

My friends don't understand me when I say that The Hunger Games was just a bit too close to the book.

I feel that, aside from the sillier bits, Overdrawn At The Memory Bank is actually quite brilliant, and Raul Julia and the villain make the movie even more of a treat to sit through.
Still, 'My nuts!?" indeed.

Just an FYI to everyone - if this thread turns into a complaints thread, obvious or stealth, it will be shut down very fast.
Mine is that the special version of Alien 3 is the best in the series.
My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username.

I have a similar opinion. I hated what Aliens did to the original Alien and I despised all those marines and how it took an intelligent and subtle horror film and made it some super action MARINES LOCK AND LOAD f*ck YEAH movie. Alien 3 Assembly Cut was a great way to bring it back to the original horror elements while adding its own gothic atmosphere and I really like it for that. I don't think it's as good as Alien but it's a strong sequel and a much more worthy one than Aliens.

Note: This opnion ended sometime ago but I think it counts to an extent.
I thought The Last Airbender was going to be a good film based on the trailers and M Night's words on being a fan.
I still have yet to see the film but I've read about every stupid change he made.
One of my friends will Never Live It Down though.

I don't like Toy Story or Shrek.
Bee Movie has grown on me over the years.
The Princess And The Frog wasn't that great.

Don't like The Dark Knight
Don't like Star Wars
Like the Transformers movies... for the splosions.
And a lot of others but i'm not sure how popular or unpopular the movies are so I dunno if they would count.

Out of curiosity, "unpopular" by what measuring stick (so to speak)? I mean, a few groups here and there, everyone else on the entire planet, or something in between?

I'd just tend to assume it's an opinion you have that you don't tend to see other people having in your own experience.

I feel that The Last Airbender could have been an absolutely great movie (even with the cast) if it was simply directed better.
The Transformers Film Series will be remembered for revolutionizing the film industry in a similar way The Matrix series did. The story might be clunky and some characters obnoxious but the sheer scale of carnage achieved (largely without special effects) is something to be admired. And despite the hatred of Michael Bay, he is the one to emulate when it comes to actually making a movie come together, not James Cameron, Christopher Nolan or Steven Spielberg.

By "special effects" do you mean "CGI"? Pyrotechnics are still special effects.

I didn't like The Shining too much.
I believe that The Thing(1982) is one of the best horror films ever made.
I think A Bug's Life was one of Pixar's best films.
I didn't like the fact that Rob Zombie's Halloween gave Myers a 'background', and I believe that him being evil for seemingly no reason is one of his best qualities as a killer.
I loved the movie Funny Games despite what the directer wanted out of me.

I don't think that's an unpopular opinion in the slightest.
Here's one; de Palma's Scarface is an waste of film that takes three hours to make a stupidly simple point(though I don't hate it).

Same. It's flawed, but not as flawed as people think.
Theres sex and death and human grime in monochrome for one thin dime and at least the trains all run on time but they dont go anywhere.

Also, I believe that Tarantino is one of the best directors to ever happen to Hollywood.
And that the 2003 Hulk film is superior to the 2008 Hulk.
And that Memento is Nolan's best film.

Not to mention the Tarantino thing.

Is it bad that I still haven't seen a single Tarantino film? And I actually own Pulp Fiction and Inglorious Basterds on DVD, but I never actually have gotten around to watching them yet. (I tried to watch PF once, but the DVD kept skipping and I had to replace the disc. Same thing happened the one time I tried to watch Firefly.)

I don't think either are actually bad movies, in spite of the above comment, I just think the gushing about him is beyond what's justified.
