LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s Board of Control on Wednesday approved the final alignment for the 2019-22 football seasons, with just a few changes from the original draft that was released in February.
The biggest announcement involving Louisville-area schools was a change that was not made, as Oldham County will stay in Class 6-A, District Eight with Lexington-area schools Bryan Station, Clark County and Madison Central. Ballard - which is in Class 6-A, District Five with Eastern and Trinity – had objected to Oldham County’s shift east in the alignment.
The following requests were granted by the Board of Control
* Class 5-A – Breckinridge County was moved up from Class 4-A because of geographical request.
* Class 4-A – Russell County was moved from District Seven to District Two because of a geographical and time-zone request.
* Class 3-A – Garrard County (from District Four to District Five) and Powell County (from District Five to District Six) were moved for geographical reasons.
* Class 2-A – West Carter was dropped from Class 3-A. Morgan County was moved from District Eight to District Seven for geographical reasons.
There were no changes in Class A and Class 6-A.

In other Board of Control news:
* Commissioner Julian Tackett said the KHSAA continues to look for a way to seed teams in the semifinals of the football playoffs, which would allow the stronger teams to host those games. Tackett said Colorado’s system of rankings teams based solely on strength of schedule – including strength of schedule of opponents and opponents’ opponents – is one possibility.
* Tackett announced the distribution of 1,800 “Triple Threat” certificates to schools, recognizing athletes who play different sports in the fall, winter and spring. Tackett said 265 of 280 member schools had at least one athlete recognized.
