A year and a half ago, in February 2012, I blogged my take on a delicious recipe from Picky Palate. Then, at some point in June, my blog post started getting a serious amount of traffic. The original blog post was taken long before I had my new camera and I thought about going back and updating the old pictures, but then I thought, instead of updating the pictures, maybe I'll try to re-make the recipe with a bit of a twist - and the Bold Ranch Crockpot Pork Chops were born!

All you need to make these are 4 ingredients ...

1 10oz can cream of chicken soup
1 packet of ranch dressing dips mix
1 tablespoon of cajun seasoning
4 thick cut pork chops (or up to 6 thin cut)

This might be one of the easiest - and least expensive - recipes that I make. First, mix the cream of chicken soup, ranch mix and cajun seasoning together in one bowl.

The cream of chicken soup gives it a yellowish color that is darkened by the cajun seasoning. If you love extra spice, you can add a bit more of the seasoning, or if you prefer a little less heat, you can use a little less. This may affect the coloring of your marinade.

Then, put your pork chops into the crock pot, and cover with the bold ranch marinade.

Cook for 4 hours on high (or 6 hours on low), and serve over your favorite starch! When making something with a little bit of spice, I like to serve with mashed potatoes - but rice or a baked potato would go perfectly too!

Such an easy recipe with only 4 ingredients and very little prep work - less than 5 minutes! Hope you had a fantastic weekend & your week is off to a great start! I'll see you tomorrow for Wedding Wednesday!

Hi! It's pretty spicy with the tablespoon of cajun seasoning, but you can definitely cut it down to just a teaspoon of seasoning if you're worried about your toddlers handling it. Let me know how it turns out!

Hi! It isn't overly salty, but if you're concerned about salt, you could look for a no or low sodium cream of chicken soup and/or using a salt-free cajun seasoning!

I made this recipe and it was amazing flavor, but after a few bites it was definitely to salty for me, and my husband agreed (Hes a salt lover). I am curious to find out if it just the adding of the Cajun seasoning, or the ranch. Any ideas how to town it down? it was a very good flavor other then the saltiness.

If you used no-salt cajun seasoning, then I would say that it was likely the ranch. You may be able to find no-salt ranch seasoning as well if you look for it!

I find this recipe to be to salty as is. It's a great and easy recipe however I think only using half of the ranch packet yields best results. That appears to be where all the salt is coming from

Thanks so much for your comment! This is another great way to reduce the salt if you're concerned about it, but it might take away some of the ranch flavor. You can always try a low sodium soup or salt-free seasoning as well!

I wonder if this could be made with chicken? I love it with pork chops and have made it many times that way, but I have chicken I need to use tonight.

Instead of the crock-pot, could you cook on the stove or in the oven?

I haven't tried it before, but I'm sure you could! I would marinate the pork chops in the mixture for at least a few hours before and then put in the oven at 350 for about 30 minutes or cook on the stove over medium high heat for about 4-5 minutes per side, depending upon the thickness of the pork chop.

Would it be ok if i cooked them in the SC for longer than 6 hours? I work and can't get home until 5 which would mean that it would for at least 9 hours...

Yes, it should be okay for you to cook them in the crockpot for a little longer. You have a couple of options with this... 1. If your crockpot has a warming feature, cook the chops on low for 7 hours and allow it to warm for the remaining 2 hours until you get home or 2. Cook the porkchops on low for 9 hours, but add a 1/4 cup of chicken stock to make sure the porkchops do not dry out.

I had the same timing issue, but didn't realize it until halfway through the work day :/ Luckily, when i got home, the only thing that had happened was the pork chops fell off the bone, still moist and delicious though! Pair it with some potatoes, oh! Amazing!

I made this last night, and it was a HUGE hit with the whole family. I omitted the cajun sadly because i have two young kids, and i also didn't use the whole packet of ranch as some people had commented it was too salty. The easiest dinner i have made in a long time. i served over brown rice with steamed veggies on the side. will make again many times when in a crunch.

This was absolutely delicious! My husband loved it. I read the comments and was concerned about it being too salty. So I used the cream of chicken with herbs, 2 tablespoons of homemade ranch seasoning, and half a tablespoon of Mrs. Dash spicy seasoning. It was perfect! Will definitely make again...and again :-)
